calmo.cloud manages your server over SSH and keeps only the metadata it needs to operate. During a backup or restore the archive streams through calmo.cloud to the storage you chose and is not retained afterwards.

Where is my Odoo data stored?
On the server you provision. Choose a Hetzner data centre in Germany or Finland, or any other EU server, and your Odoo database and files stay there. Backups go to the S3-compatible storage you configure.
Does any of my data pass through calmo.cloud?
calmo.cloud manages your server via SSH and stores the metadata needed to operate the platform, such as connection details and configuration. Your business data, the database and files, is processed and stored on your server. The one exception is backups and restores: the archive passes through calmo.cloud on its way between your server and your backup storage and is deleted as soon as the transfer completes.
Can I host Odoo exclusively in Germany?
Yes. Provision a Hetzner server in Nuremberg or Falkenstein, or connect your own hardware in a German data centre. calmo.cloud works with any SSH-accessible Ubuntu server.
How does calmo.cloud help with GDPR compliance?
The architecture keeps you in control: you choose the data location, you have direct database access for data subject requests, and backups go to storage you select. That makes compliance workflows straightforward, though compliance also depends on how you operate your Odoo.

Wherever you decide. Backups go to S3-compatible storage of your choice, including EU-based providers, and you can use several destinations with separate schedules and retention.
