Who owns the machine.
On OPaaS the server belongs to OPaaS, even the dedicated one. On calmo.cloud it belongs to you, and the platform is a guest with an SSH key you can revoke. That is the whole difference in one sentence.
OPaaS Cloud is a German provider that hosts and operates Odoo for you, Community or Enterprise, in certified data centres with a support desk. calmo.cloud manages Odoo on a server you rent yourself. Both are run by Odoo partners; the difference is who owns the machine.
A management layer for Odoo on your own Ubuntu server. It installs Docker, Traefik and PostgreSQL, deploys Odoo 18, 19 or 20 Enterprise, sends backups to storage you own, gives every pull request a preview instance and monitors the lot. Root stays with you.
Managed Odoo hosting by OPaaS GmbH. Business Class runs on a managed Kubernetes cluster, First Class on a dedicated server. German data centres, ISO 27001 and C5 certification, daily geo-redundant backups, a management dashboard, GitHub integration and German-speaking support. Priced in steps of 20 users, from €66 a month.
OPaaS does more for you. calmo.cloud lets you do more yourself. Neither is wrong; they suit different teams.
Any Ubuntu server you can reach over SSH, at any provider, in any region.

OPaaS watches your systems for you and steps in. calmo.cloud collects the metrics, runs the checks and alerts you; acting on them is your call. Agencies who already run infrastructure tend to prefer the second model.
OPaaS keeps geo-redundant copies on its own infrastructure and offers external FTP backups on its top tier. calmo.cloud writes every backup to buckets you own from day one, and to more than one if you want.
If you want a German company to run Odoo end to end, including Community edition and older versions, in certified data centres, with a support desk that answers in German, OPaaS is the more complete service. Teams without their own infrastructure people are usually happier there.
OPaaS prices its platform in steps of 20 users. calmo.cloud charges a flat plan from €29 a month that covers two servers, whatever the user count. The Odoo licence is the same on both sides.
OPaaS figures come from running their configurator on 14 September 2026 for Business Class in Germany: €66 a month for up to 20 users on annual billing, €60 more for every further 20 users, €15 per staging environment, 20 GB and two geo-redundant backups included, extra storage at €0.30 per GB. Monthly billing is €72, €65 per tier and €18 per staging environment. Their published starting price of €81 is tier one with one staging environment. First Class, on a dedicated server, was €127 a month for 20 users and is sold on annual terms only.
A move from OPaaS is a backup out, a backup in and a domain change.
Any Ubuntu machine you can reach over SSH. Connect it to calmo.cloud and it prepares Docker, Traefik and PostgreSQL.
If your addons live in Git, connect the repository. calmo.cloud discovers the addons per branch.
Download a backup from the OPaaS dashboard, upload it to calmo.cloud and restore it into a new instance. Check it there.
Add the hostname, let the certificate issue and change the DNS record when you are ready.
Not yet. calmo.cloud runs Enterprise today and Community support is planned. Stay on OPaaS until then, or switch to Enterprise as part of the move.
calmo.cloud runs Odoo 18, 19 and 20. Plan the version upgrade first, then move the upgraded database.
Only if you want to. Rent your server from a German provider and it stays in Germany. The certifications become those of your provider rather than OPaaS's.
On OPaaS, their team. On calmo.cloud, the platform alerts you and you or your agency act. If that trade sounds wrong for you, OPaaS is the better home.
